Petra plans to enter main market of diamonds
Petra Diamonds is planning to buy a diamond mine in South Africa from De Beers for R1.42bn (1m). After acquiring Finsch diamond mine from De Beers, the Aim-quoted diamond miner, which has been producing mines in South Africa and Tanzania, said it is planning to move into the main market. This way there can be success in the market of diamond jewelry. The group has placed 137m new ordinary shares at a price of 150p a share, a discount of 12p to Petra’s close of 162p on Thursday. Petra has used RBC Capital Markets and Canaccord Genuity as joint brokers. Johan Dippenaar, chief executive, said Finsch would add 1.5m carats to Petra’s production and revenues of about 0m. He also said that acquisition was “a platform” for Petra to move up to the main market where it would likely enter the FTSE 250. The shares have risen up from18p to 180p on Friday. This increase can lead in to better purchase of the diamond bracelets. Petra that said Finsch would help increase production to 5.4m carats and revenues to 0m by 2019. Mr Dippenaar said Finsch would enable Petra to exceed its target of doubling production of 1.16m carats by 2014. The biggest thing is that it has almost doubled its production profile and there’s significant uplift to its revenue and in an environment of rising diamond prices. [But] it’s got three big capital expenditure programmers at three different mines already so it must be careful,” he said. The sale of Finsch leaves De Beers with three working mines in South Africa, the country where the diamond group built its fortune. De Beers said part of the reason for selling Finsch was to expand operations at its Venetia mine, the largest diamond producer in South Africa.
An Ethical Approach to Kilimanjaro
I receive emails from prospective clients who want to climb Kilimanjaro and they want to climb for under US 00. I explain to them that this physically can’t be done without drastic consequences for the local people who work on the mountain. After informing prospective clients of this fact I tend not to get any repeat emails from them and I can only imagine they trail the internet until they find a mountain outfitter that will attempt to guide them to the summit for under US 00.
Many issues affect the local people who work on Kilimanjaro; many are underpaid, many are not properly clothed for the environments in which they operate, they are not given somewhere adequate to sleep during an expedition, they carry loads up the mountain far above the weight set down by the park authorities, many have to pay for their own transport to and from the mountain and a percentage have to pay for the food they eat on the mountain.
The responsibility for the unfair treatment of the people who work on Kilimanjaro falls at the feet of those who pay to climb the mountain and the outfitters who organise treks and climbs on Kilimanjaro. Rules are now in place to try and protect the people who work on Kilimanjaro but many outfitters are either not aware of the rules or are unwilling to abide by them. In many cases those who pay to climb the mountain are either unaware of the issues affecting the people who work on Kilimanjaro or are not willing to sacrifice an extra few hundred dollars for the peace of mind in knowing that the people who are supporting them on the mountain are being well treated.

The Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project (KPAP) has made a big difference to the lives of those who work on Kilimanjaro. They have fought to bring in a minimum wage of 8000 Tanzania Shillings, equivalent to US .00 per day, for the porters of Kilimanjaro. They have also been at the forefront of setting a limit for the weight carried by porters on the mountain and have educated over 9000 porters on issues affecting them in their daily lives.
At Lava Expeditions we believe in ethical tourism and the benefits it can have for everyone. We have witnessed firsthand many of the issues affecting the people who work on Kilimanjaro and we believe that companies should take a more ethical approach to the way they operate on the mountain. At Lava Expeditions we pay our mountain staff nearly double the minimum wage set down by the park authorities and we will be donating 5% of our annual net profits to the Kilimanjaro Porters Assistance Project. These are but a few of the ways Lava Expeditions is showing its commitment to Kilimanjaro and the people who work on the mountain. The benefits of being an ethical company are felt by everyone, from the people who make a living from the mountain to the many tourists who come to climb Kilimanjaro every year.
Lava Expeditions wants to be at the forefront for change on Kilimanjaro and we hope that by being an ethical company we will be far ahead of our competitors when it comes to a more ethical approach to operating on Kilimanjaro. Our overall ethos at Lava Expeditions is to support the local populations and environments and to offer our clients safe and affordable adventures at altitude.

Best Time Of Year For A Kenya Safari
Wildebeest as far as the eye can see, elephant wandering the Amboseli plains with snow-capped Kilimanjaro in the background, the statuesque silhouettes of giraffe and umbrella thorns set against a blood red sky – all iconic images of an African safari.
Kenya has long captured the imagination of travelers, and is considered the birthplace of the modern safari. Kenya’s best known parks, the Masai Mara and Amboseli, are both classic big game reserves, then there’s Tsavo – Kenya’s largest reserve, the soda lakes of Lake Nakuru – shaded pink by massive flocks of flamingos, and the lesser-known Samburu Reserve with its huge predator and elephant populations.
Once you know where you want to go and what you hope to see, your biggest decision when planning a trip to East Africa is figuring out the best time of year for your Kenya safari.
When To See The Migration in the Mara
Imagine open savannah plains dotted with massive herds of wildebeest, or dramatic river crossings where Jurassic-sized crocs lie in wait: the annual migration is without a doubt one of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth, but in order to witness it you really need to get your timing right!
]]>
Driven by the rains, the exact dates of the migration vary from year to year, but the great herds usually begin massing on the banks of the Mara River in August, then cross over into the Kenya’s Masai Mara for a relatively short time – around two to three months – before heading back into Tanzania’s neighbouring Serengeti Reserve in October.
This is the busiest time of year in the Mara, not only in terms of the density of wildlife but also the number of visitors to the park. So, if you want to see the migration, book early! The best placed Masai Mara accommodation gets snapped up months in advance.
Best Time For Game Viewing
If you’re planning a Masai Mara safari, bear in mind that it’s only the wildebeest and some zebra and gazelles that migrate. The Mara always has large resident herds and, what’s more, predators such as lion and leopard stick to their territories within the reserve.
This means that if you travel outside of the migration season you might not see such massive herds, but you’ll probably see a greater variety of species and less people.
If you’re not specifically interested in the migration, the best time for game viewing in all of Kenya’s parks and reserves are the dry seasons – January to the end of March (the hottest time of the year) and July and August (the colder winter months). At this time of year water is less, so wildlife congregates at rivers and around annual water holes allowing for excellent sightings.
When To Go On A Kenya Safari & Beach Holiday
Kenya also has an incredible coastline, with footprint-free beaches, colourful coral reefs and warm, clear sea. After early mornings and hot, dusty game drives, spend a few relaxing days in Mombasa or head north to the tiny tropical islands of the Lamu Archipelago.
While it always tends to be hot and humid on the Kenya Coast, the best time of year for a Kenya beach holiday is generally from late December to March - before the short rains begin. At this time of year temperatures are high and the ocean tends to be really clear, allowing for great visibility when snorkeling or scuba diving.

How to Look Cool with Funny Facebook Statuses
You want to look cooler? Make your friends mistake you for Chris Rock? Looking for a funny status that will instantly get you sex? Look no further – I’ll give you a status SO cool and SO funny that girls will get CRAZY ABOUT YOU! Not only that, they’ll call their girlfriends – ALL of them! THAT’s how funny the status I’ll give you is. It’s so funny that you’ll get 500 likes, even from people that are not your friends yet. They’ll send you a Friends Request JUST so they could LIKE your ultra cool status. Enough of messing around. Listen up:
People that are COOL, for REAL – don’t TRY to be cool, they just ARE. Things that are funny and cool FOR REAL, are like that for a very, very simple reason. Because they are NATURAL. They are not fake, or try-hard. They are REAL. 100% pure, no crap – NO approval seeking.
How old are you? What is it, you want a pat on the back? You NEED someone to TELL you that you are funny and cool for you to believe it? If I tell you that you’re a loser – will you believe me. Who are you? Don’t you have a character, don’t you have an OPINION, that can be backed up by YOU, and no one else. Why do you care what other people think that much?
Funny, cool people, are funny EXACTLY because they don’t give a DAMN whether they’ll appear funny or not. That’s the reason they DO appear like that, since they don’t try. They just do what they do. To be funny, to get a girl interested in you – you have to do something with your life. If you’re not doing anything, go do something. Climb a mountain. Learn a language. Go to Tanzania. Quit your job. Be UNIQUE. UNIQUE is different. Different is interesting. Stand out in a GOOD way, not a strange, attention seeking loser kind of way.
Let’s continue. Here’s a cool status: ASK A QUESTION. Why do you write a status anyway? It’s dumb when guys write a status like “getting bored at work” – or any other stupid thing where they complain. People have their own problems, they don’t want to know about yours. So DON’T MENTION THEM. Complaining WILL NOT get you sex. Ever. Period. The POINT of a Facebook status, if your goal is to get SEX – is to GET THE BALL ROLLING. You want to give the girls a REASON to start a conversation with you. If a girl is interested, she’ll often NEED a reason for making contact. So give her one. ASK A QUESTION – and people will jump in to give their opinion, maybe even her.
You’ll have to SPY on your target a bit, check her out. Figure out what she’s missing in her life. Then try to grab her attention with a status that is USEFUL. Not funny, or cool – but useful. Useful in giving her the opportunity to make contact with you, without appearing like a prostitute. Open the door for her to come into YOUR world. Instead of knocking on HER door like 98% of other LOSERS.

Harnessing mobile web trends in Africa for marketing
Opera’s State of the Mobile Web Report, published yesterday outlined triple digit growth rates (a common occurrence in the region according to Opera Mini) in mobile web use in Africa. Why Kopi Luwak is so Popular?
Are you a coffee lover? If yes, then you must have tried several gourmet coffee brands like, Millstone, Folgers or Eight O’Clock. But, have you heard about Kopi Luwak? This one is not from the mountains of Mexico or Tanzania. This has a pure taste of the tropical Asia. Meet the most expensive and the most popular coffee of the world, full of richness and taste, the one and only Kopi Luwak from Indonesia. Go through this article and find out more facts on kopi luwak.
So, how Kopi Luwak is made?
Indonesia is famous for its coffee and the wild Asian palm civets. These cat-like animals play a key role in kopi luwak production. The civets are mostly found in the western islands of Indonesia like, Java, Sumatra etc. These civets somehow choose only the fresh and sweetest coffee berries. They use these berries for their livelihood. But they cannot digest the seeds. After a day or two, the undigested coffee seeds come out as civet-droppings. Local farmers collect these pooped coffee seeds for further processing.
]]>
Do you know the taste?
Well, if you ask this same question to ten different people from different countries who have tasted the kopi luwak, you will get ten different answers. The reason is simple. Kopi Luwak has it’s own taste which can’t be compared with other’s. Though it is said that, kopi luwak has chocolate, orange, floral and/or butter undertones. But the important fact is, it’s taste goes beyond all the quality boundaries. The smooth flavor, the freshness and a long finish is enough to enchant your mind in a delightful morning.
Why is Kopi Luwak so much expensive?
The answer is rare production. This exotic coffee bean is still unavailable in wide amount. It is really difficult to measure the accurate production, but most of the popular sources claim 500 – 1000 pounds of annual production. Though the majority will go for the former one. The roasting process reduces the volume up to 20%. Some scientists figured out that approximately half the beans marketed under the name of “kopi luwak” are either impure or fake. So please beware of the duplicates. Just because of it’s rare availability, one cup of kopi luwak can cost upto . But it will worth of your single penny.
In spite of its high cost and rarity, those who really admire quality, richness and smoothness of coffee, are buying this brand. If you are a true coffee lover then kopi luwak will be the best choice to start your day. So, what are you waiting for? Grab a cup, taste the richness and share your experience.
